Education

The Heart of Canada

Manitoba is home to several universities of which three are ranked in the top 25% of the world: University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg and Brandon University (www.timeshighereducation.com).  With over 30 colleges and universities, the province has a very high ratio of post-secondary education seats per capita. Because of the geographic size of the province, almost all offer remote learning courses.

The province offers a portal to all the public (and most private) schools in the province. (https://www.edu.gov.mb.ca/k12/schools/index.html)

Education from K-GR 12 is free to all, while trade school, college and university fees are among the lowest in Canada and North America, with tuition fees ranging from $2,500 to $11,400 per year CDN$.

There are many religion-based private schools and instruction in languages other than English (Manitoba officially is French and English).

The province’s education system has day-to-day management via an array of school divisions throughout the province, with most in rural communities where bussing service is provided to all students that are a minimum distance from their catchment school.
