Brandon, The Wheat City

The Heart of Canada: Connecting North, East and West

Brandon, commonly called “The Wheat City” and home to the Wheat Kings, no longer relies on grain farming for it’s identity. With a population exceeding 59,000, it has exploded from 35,000 a few decades ago, largely due to its new focus on meat processing. Yet, the Wheat City is much more and has beome a popular place to live simply because, well, its very liveable!

It may be a stop-off point for east-to-west travel along Highway 1, but Brandon has affordable housing, a recognized university, plenty of recreation opportunities, good community infrastructure and a welcoming citizenry.

While “Brandon, the Wheat City” remains its affectionate monicker in the province, Brandon is worth exploring for a whole lot more.

Brandon the Wheat City

Brandon, the Wheat City More Than Wheat

The Brandon Royal Winter Fair is a bit of an anomaly, since it actuially takes place during the usual spring school break. While it certainly is the main attraction in the city during the colder months, the Summer Fir, Manitoba Ag Ex and Market at the Dome all attest to the city’s agricultural roots. It also is emerging as a significant shopping destination for surrounding communities.

Use the menu bar at the top of the page (“Brandon,” then other links under the heading) to explore more aspects of the city.

Find community services, upcoming events, new opportunities and much more. Explore restaurants and retailers by visiting the Classifieds section, or immerse yourself in Brandon’s Recreation and Entertainment scene.

We will be introducing a “New Projects” page in upcoming months, along with a “Government” page.

If you have specific ideas for improvements, please let us know!
