Perhaps the thing that New Bothwell is best known for is its cheese. Bothwell cheddar is one of the most popular cheddars in Manitoba. While the town is fairly small, it has instant name recognition. Many of the residents are of Mennonite ancestry (from Russia), as are many people from nearby Blumenort and Steinbach, as well as Grunthal.It originally was home to Ojibway/Anishinabe First Nations.
