Carman, a small town of about 3,000 people, is a mere forty-five minute drive from Winnipeg, on Highway 13 and 3. Home to five great walking paths, collection of greenhouses, nature areas along the Boyne River and a popular golf course, it attracts visitors year-round. It truly is a green community. Several boutique-style cafes and restaurants, good-sized grocery and numerous other shops make it a beautifully self-contained home for retirees and commuters.
Aside from its own parks, Carman is near the provincial Stephenfield Park and campground, popular among Manitoba’s summer tourists.
The community is part of, although not absorbed by the RM of Dufferin agricultural area, a lush and productive crop growing region.

Carman retains its unique heritage, with many of the old buildings from the early 1900s well-preserved, including the 1902 railway station. The Golden Prairie Arts Council regularly puts on shows for residents and visitors alike.
Housing & Community Services
Carman continmues to develop family and active living-friendly infratructure. In addition to its recreation complex, pool and splash park, it offers recreation & leisure programs, walking trails, soccer and baseball, and a variety of outdoor activities.
There are river launch points, skate park, tennis and outdoor gym equipment.
While multiple housing facilities are at a premium, the town is working on an affordable housing strategy to increase housing availability.
Carman has both a medicial centre and a comprehensive community hospital, providing a rannge of medical services.
Most homes are freestanding bungalows, almost all of which are impecably maintained.
To reduce the impact of business on the residential environment, the retail and business ector is largely limited to one main street along the railway track, with easy access but separate from most of the homes.
