Teulon: A Quiet Interlake Bedroom Community In the Heart Farm Country

The Heart of Canada: Connecting North, East and West

A small town of 1300 people 50 minutes north of Winnipeg on Highway 7, Teulon is an ideal bedroom community for Winnipeg. It has been labelled as the Gateway to the Interlake. It also brags of a wealth of golf, grain and geese. Mixed agriculture farms surround Teulon, with beef, poultry, some hogs and even bison farming nearby. Directly under a Canada goose seasonal flyway, home to one of the Interlake’s best golf courses and in the middle of the Interlake’s grain growing acreage, Teulon offers diversity in the midst of farm country. Golf, grain & geese: 3 Teulon attractions.

Norris Lake, a provincial park, is about fifteen minutes from Teulon on Hwy 17.

Quiet Interlake Bedroom Community

Lying 60 km. north of Winnipeg on Highway 7, Teulon is easily within commuting distance for people who prefer a pastoral setting in which to live. To the south, Stonewall offers great shopping and dining, as well.

golf, grain, geese

Surrounded by agriculture, Teulon has developed as a town where farmers go to relax at the Chicken Chef or any of the other coffee places. Locals and visitors play a round of golf, go to the recreation centre or shop. With one medium-sized grocery store a pharmacy, clothing store and a few specialty stores, Teulon has all that locals need for everyday supplies.

The main street is quiet, wide and inviting, running along what used to be an active railway line. Like many spur lines, it is now decommissioned. The town’s signage says it all: you are welcome.

Curling, dances and hockey are the mainstay indoor recreation activities in the winter. Summers include many of the active sports, the yearly fair (including tractor pull), and overnight camping.

However, many hunters choose Teulon and area for goose hunting, with grain fields on which the geese feed. Golfers love the Teulon Golf Course.

The regional hospital, elementary and high school and seniors home provide health, education & security needs. An affordable community and an attractive place to live, Teulon welcomes new residents eagerly.
