Manitoba crams a lot of outdoor entertainment into the summer season, with festivals and fairs abounding. Some of teh festivals and fairs are cultural or ethnic, some are just plain local fun.

But Manitobans embrace all seasons. Our second busiest event season is in the winter, with the iconic Festival du Voyageur, Trappers Festival, Manipogo, Beasujour Snowmobile Races, ice fishing derbies, tons of craft and art fairs and a variety of special interest events. We revel in the great outdoors! However, we also play indoors, with indoor curling bonspiels (and outdoor jam pail curling), hockey (both spectator with the Winnipeg Jets and Moose, and myriad hockey tournaments in local communities) and shows.
To list all events would be overwhelming! Every small town has an arena or curling rink, some indoors, some outdoors.

Festivals and Fairs in Shoulder Seasons
Even spring and autumn see an abundance of events. Fall suppers are prevalent, and, year round, the iconic Manitoba social provides an evening of fun for newlyweds.
Festival du Voyageur
This iconic winter celebration, held in the coldest winter month of February, celebrates the lifestyle, history and celebratory nature of the original “white” settlers, who came to the province following the fur trade.

A day trip to Bird’s Hill Park
Bird’s Hill Provincial Park offers year-round family entertainment, along with a wealth of nature trails for skiing or hiking, bird watching, a small lake for summer use and the famous Winnipeg Folk Festival, in July.

Community dances occur every week. It just requires a bit of searching. In almost every corner of the province, there are local events, and everyone is always welcome. It is Friendly Manitoba, after all!
