NorMan (Northern Manitoba)

The Heart of Canada

Northern Manitoba, or NorMan stretches from the northern edge of the Interlake at Gypsumville and the north edge of the Parklands region south of The Pas to Churchill, east to the Ontario border and west to the Saskatchewan border and Flin Flon. While it is a vast area, it is largely unpopulated, unserviced wilderness, with numerous First Nations communities, only accessible by air, water or winter roads. Yet, it also has larger centres, like Thompson, medium-sized towns or cities like Flin Flon and The Pas, and an assortment of small communities like Snow Lake.

It is a valuable ecologically sensitive area, as well, with huge areas of boreal forest to the south.
