Beausejour: Gateway to Whiteshell and Nopiming Provincial Parks
The Heart of Canada
Beausejour is a town of about 3,400 people near the intersections of Highways 44 and 12 in the eastern region of the province. While it has many grain and several livestock farms, it is at the edge of the boreal forest, near Whiteshell Park, south of the gold mines of Bissett and east of Lake Winnipeg.
Beausejour has all the amenities of a small city, on a lesser scale, with a full grocery store, a couple of convenience stores, many coffee shops and restaurants, clothing and specialty stores, golf course and nearby campgrounds. Beausejour’s annual Snowmobile Races attract thousands each winter, while tourists travelling through to the lake country and provincial parks to the east stop by often.
In 2026, Beausejour moved to annex the surrounding rural area,in the Brokenhead municipality, in order to provide enough space for the town to expand.
It may seem to be a minor feature, but for ice cream lovers, Pennyweight–a bulk food store–offers the best soft ice cream in the province, with over 1,000 flavour combinations. Blue Haze BBQ and Airliner Drive Inn (without the airport!) easily satisfy the biggest appetites for burgers and summer food.
