Lac du Bonnet

The Heart of Canada

A real estate agent, familiar with almost all of the province, once asked me, “How do I not know about this wonderful, hidden gem?” She is correct. Lac du Bonnet is a gem, situated at the junction of Hwys 11 and 317, on the edge of several provincial parks.

Its history goes back to 1760 and the fur traders. But it is making new history as more and more people retire to the area, with scores of miles of waterways, several good retail offerings, condos newly built and a healthy established residential community.

In summer, people flock to the town for its swimming and fishing, along with its vibrant farmers market. In winter, ice fishing dominates, along with snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
